June 22nd, 2023 An insider’s guide to 45 Park Lane Elegantly situated on prestigious Park Lane, the sleek Art Deco lines of 45 Park Lane house one of London’s most luxurious hotels. A fixture of the British capital since the 1960s, when it was designed by Walter Gropius, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century and founder of the Bauhaus School, in a functionally elegant Modernist style. Today’s Art Deco lines are a product of its 21st century revamp for the Dorchester Collection. 45 Park Lane has become synonymous with two things – contemporary art and food. Home to one of London’s finest hotel art collections, Damian Hirsts sit alongside the likes of London sculptor Jill Berelowitz and American fine art photographer Jin-Woo Prensena. While a carefully curated roster of ever-changing temporary exhibitions includes pre-eminent fashion photographer David Bailey and French-Israeli abstract artist Yoram Chisin. Imbued with sophistication, the restaurant, CUT at 45, is an outpost of Michelin-starred chef, Wolfgang Puck’s, legendary Beverly Hill steakhouse CUT. The soft leather seating and contemporary wooden paneling make it reminiscent of one of London’s traditional gentlemen’s clubs, while the outstanding food is on par with the city’s finest. Spearheaded by Chef Elliott Grover there is a focus on locally sourced, seasonal produce. For those after a quiet drink, the mezzanine-level BAR at 45 is both intimate and elegant, serving Art Deco cocktails and a fine selection of whiskies. The Spa at 45 Park Lane was redesigned by the team behind the loving restoration of Marrakech’s La Mamounia, transforming it with a floral mosaic handcrafted by Venetian artisans. The mosaic serves as a backdrop to the glowing waters of the swimming pool, while underlit treatment rooms offer a revitalizing sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of London outside. The stylish one, two and three-bedroom suites are decorated with Art Deco flair and flourishes from geometric shapes to contemporary finishes. Each have views out over the leafy expanse of Hyde Park, once Henry VIII’s hunting ground. The effortless chic of the cool marble bathrooms, rich furnishings, and state-of-the art mod cons ensure the perfect stay. If that wasn’t enough a dedicated host will look after your every need during your stay. Perfectly positioned, 45 Park Lane is right at the heart of Mayfair. The Royal Academy, Christies and Sotheby’s are a short walk away, alongside Mayfair’s renowned commercial art galleries. For shoppers the draw of Bond Street’s cutting edge designer brands can prove irresistible. While the extraordinary range of fine dining and Fortnum & Mason on the doorstep will keep even the most adventurous of foodies sated. Image credits © The Dorchester Collection Back to Blog
