If you are an adventure seeker, Belize should definitely be on your bucket-list! Belize retains an undeveloped atmosphere - so it feels like you are traveling back in time. Rain forests, mountain ranges, and the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world give every traveler plenty to explore. We traveled there in 2019 with a very full-itinerary. Ancient Mayan ruins, zip-lining, cave exploration, a waterfall hike, snorkeling and SCUBA. Tikal National Park is just across the border in Guatemala - a perfect day trip to explore one of the largest Mayan sites in Central America. Our private guide led us on a two-hour tour of the ancient city - wandering between the stone structures and climbing ancient steps to gaze over the rain forest. Our luxury resorts were perfect for our stay in Belize - Chaa Creek, with it's fabulous infinity pool in the rain forest, and Hamanasi - where we learned to SCUBA for the day and enjoyed the sound of the waves every night during dinner. We enjoyed outstanding meals, delicious cocktails, and plenty of local culture.
